Cosmetic Bioglitter® PURE
In 2019, the world’s first biodegradable glitter series was launched – a milestone in water degradability. The products are designed to decompose quickly and safely in the natural environment. With a completely new approach, Cosmetic Bioglitter® PURE has created iridescent effects that cannot be achieved with conventional plastic glitter. The opalescent glitter effect is exclusive to Bioglitter® and gives a fascinating, natural look.
The PURE portfolio includes various variants: Opal with a pearlescent shimmer, Vivid with an intense metallic sheen and Opaque with a matte finish.

Opal, opaque & matte effect glitter
Irising – sustainably reimagined
The physical properties of naturally sourced raw materials do not allow the structure of classic plastic glitter with an iridescent effect to be replicated. That is why we have completely rethought the effect – in an environmentally friendly and innovative way. Our ‘Natural Colour’ range was the first step: “Opal” with a pearlescent shimmer and ‘Vivid’ with an intense metallic effect have been part of the PURE portfolio since 2020.
Shine without aluminium
Cosmetic Bioglitter® PURE completely dispenses with reflective aluminium layers – in contrast to SPARKLE and HOLO, whose glitter particles are metallic or holographic. This makes PURE particularly compatible with demanding formulations, such as those with high surfactant content or extreme pH values. Thanks to their aluminium-free composition, PURE products are also approved for lip applications in the USA. They do not contain any FDA lacquer pigments, are resistant to bleeding and all red shades are suitable for use around the eyes.

Cosmetic Bioglitter® PURE
Possible uses of Cosmetic Bioglitter® PURE
Bath & Body
Cosmetic Bioglitter® PURE is suitable for bath bombs, soaps and shower gels. It is aluminium-free and also works in surfactants, where normal glitter fails. In solid soap, it has a slight exfoliating effect, depending on the particle size.
Nails
Bioglitter® PURE is solvent-resistant and suitable for nail polish. SPARKLE is only suitable for water-based polishes, not for solvent-based varieties.
Lips
Cosmetic Bioglitter® PURE is heat-resistant above 100°C and can be used in lipstick and lip gloss. It is aluminium-free and complies with FDA regulations for lip products in the USA.
Eyes
Bioglitter® is suitable for eye make-up and is heat-resistant. Sizes 004 and 006 (≤150 µm) meet the safety requirements for use around the eyes.
Colour Cosmetics
Bioglitter® is approved for cosmetic use worldwide and is ideal for decorative cosmetics. It feels silky and is more comfortable to wear than conventional plastic glitter.
Hair
Bioglitter® is ideal for hair products. It is softer than plastic glitter and therefore more comfortable on the scalp.
Body Art & Tattoos
Bioglitter® can be used as loose glitter with fixing gel or in adhesive tattoos – perfect for creative body art.
Festival & Carnival
Bioglitter® adds sparkle to festivals – from subtle shimmer to eye-catching ‘unicorn’ looks thanks to mixes of colours and sizes.
Skin Care
Bioglitter® is suitable for skin care products such as face masks or sun creams, giving them a special effect.
Film & Theatre
