Details

Applications
  • Grinding and dispersing beads: Ideal for wet grinding in agitator ball mills. They are used for grinding dyes, pigments, ink, agrochemicals, minerals and fillers and enable particle sizes below 10 microns.
  • Reflective glass beads: These play a crucial role in road safety through retro-reflection, which reflects headlight beams back to the driver and increases the visibility of road markings.
  • Blasting glass beads: SiLibeads® Type S glass beads are used as abrasives for the mechanical surface treatment of wood, metal and plastic.
  • Polishing agent for optical and intraocular lenses: Specially developed glass beads (Art. 45xx-R8) with improved roundness are used to polish intraocular lenses to prevent scratches and ensure a smooth surface.
Quality characteristics
  • Wide range of sizes: Available in sizes ranging from 0.25 to 6.00 mm.
  • High proportion of beads in the nominal size range: Ensures consistent performance.
  • High roundness of the beads: dMIN / dMAX ≥ 0.95 (higher on request).
  • Clean and polished surfaces: Ensures high product quality.
  • High retro-reflectivity: For applications in traffic safety.
