SiLibeads® Glass Beads
SiLibeads® Type P
Our SiLibeads® Type P are characterised by their outstanding precision and versatility, manufactured from high-quality calcium sodium borosilicate glass.
Precision glass beads made of soda lime and borosilicate glass
Thanks to a special grinding process, SiLibeads® Type P precision glass beads achieve a diameter and roundness tolerance of less than 20 microns. The manufacturing process allows for the production of special sizes ranging from 0.7 to 50 mm. The surface finish of the glass balls can vary from high gloss to matt, and borosilicate glass and solid-coloured glass beads are also available on request.

Silibeads® Type P
Details
Applications
- Valve bead – sealing bead: Ideal for ink cartridges and dispensers in the food and cosmetics industries; also frequently used in dosing pumps and ball check valves.
- Ball bearings: Glass beads are used in ball bearings where corrosion and chemical resistance are required.
- Agitation bead – mixing bead: In the pharmaceutical industry, borosilicate glass beads in insulin cartridges ensure that the contents are mixed evenly when shaken.
- Special applications: In optics and medical technology, among other areas
Quality characteristics
- Precision: Diameters ranging from 0.7 to 50 mm, tolerances for individual balls (dK ≤ 20 µm) and lots (dL ≤ 20 µm).
- Dimensional stability and roundness: Very high precision with dMAX – dMIN ≤ 20 µm.
- Surface quality: Homogeneous surfaces with defined roughness (matt, silk matt and highly polished), Ra ≤ 30 nm.
- Purity: No adhesions, inclusions or air bubbles (dB ≥ 0.5 mm); very low proportion of beads with air bubbles (dB ≤ 0.5 mm).
- Food contact: Suitable for applications with direct food contact.
